Buddy

BUDDY

Courtesy Posting for K-9 Lifesavers

Buddy is the cutest black and grey Peke that you will ever meet. He is only 4 yrs old which, by Peke standards, makes him a young adult as this is a breed that lives up to 17 yrs. Buddy and his sister Bella arrived from a shelter in rural WV and is currently in a foster home in the DC area. His foster mom is simply in love with them and is working hard to help him gain some weight. At only 10 lbs he is very thin but had a great appetite, so with lots of TLC he will reach a healthy weight in no time. When we rescued Buddy, we had to shave his coat because he was matted so badly that this was the only option. However, his coat is already growing back and it will look great once its back. Despite the lack of a full coat, Buddy still looks great and acording to his foster mom, he is really enjoying the lack of a coat during the summer heat. :-)

Buddy loves the company of people and his sister Bella. He is definitely a lap doggie and doesn’t lose any opportunity to ask for belly rubs. He loves to look straight into your eyes and to gently reach upwards for kisses. He is crate trained and although he didn’t have any accidents in his foster mom’s home, he will go through an adjustment period when he will move to his permanent home when accidents are possible. But, as an adult dog, he should learn the rules of the house very fast and all he needs is a little guidance in the beginning. He is good with the other dogs in his foster home, but can be at times food possessive and when introduced to any new dogs.Training would be very helpful as this is not a terribly difficult behavior to change. Even more, going to obedience school is a wonderful way to bond with your new dog. Attitude towards cats is unknown as there aren't any in his foster home. Buddy and Bella have bonded with eachother and they would love to stay together but they can also be adopted separately. Please consider giving Buddy the home he so much deserves! Thank you! :-)

The adoption fee for this dog is $280, which includes the cost of transport and routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery. Please download and complete an Adoption Application, then email the completed form to dogsruledc@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting Buddy!
