LI SHI

An E.C.A.D.R. Dog

Li Shi (meaning "Lucky" - as in very lucky we found him at a very high-kill shelter before it was too late!) is a handsome white and tan, 5 year old Pekingese boy.

Though friendly, his one bugaboo is that he doesn't like to be picked up - he has probably been picked up badly more than once and remembers the pain it can cause for these little long-backed Asian breeds. Though small, Li Shi would probably not be a very good apartment dog because he does like to bark when he hears a noise - and he likes to run around in a fenced-in yard. Like most Pekes, he likes the cold and snow!

Li Shi is an escape artist and will try to get out the door every chance he gets. Obedience training - particularly with the "Wait" command would be very helpful for this little guy. Going to obedience school is also a wonderful way to bond with your new dog. Li Shi is already crate trained, but isn't really in need of crating as his house manners are good. He is good with the other dogs in his foster home, but is food aggressive and needs to be fed separately or in his crate. Again, training would be very helpful as food aggression is not a terribly difficult behavior to change. Attitude towards cats is unknown as there aren't any in his foster home.

Li Shi is being fostered in central New Jersey and his asking adoption fee is $225.
