Lovey

An E.C.A.D.R. Dog

Lovey, a Shih Tzu or Lhasa Apso (mix?), was found at the edge of the woods behind the foster home's house. It was apparent that she had been in the woods for quite some time - she was very underweight and maggots had infested her open sores. Local shelters were notified and signage placed around town - but no one came to claim her. So she was taken into our foster program, staying with her benefactor until she can be adopted.

Lovey isn't an easy dog and will need an owner experienced in "small dog attitude." She hasn't actually bitten anyone, but has snapped air when "spooked" or handled around her rear end (where the maggots were). Lovey gets frightened by strangers and children so she is happy to be placed in another room while they are visiting. She needs to be muzzled when being groomed. Her age is also not currently estimated because she wouldn't let the vet look in her mouth. She is scheduled for spay on 5/14 - the vet doing the surgery may be able to give a best guess estimate at that time.

All that being said, Lovey also has a very sweet, loving side with those she is familiar with - hence her name! And she loves to play and fetch.

Lovey is being fostered in Egg Harbor Township, NJ and her asking adoption fee is $175.

NOTE: Due to the volatile price of gas, getting multiple volunteers to help with long distance transporting is no longer feasible. We have listed the town and state where each dog is being fostered. Please consider how far you are willing to travel when filling out the application. The foster home will usually volunteer to help with transport for a reasonable distance.
