An E.C.A.D.R. Dog
TOPIE is 10 year old (+/-), 12lb., Pekingese male
dog given up by his owners when they moved. This picture doesn’t
do him justice because, due to a good diet, he is now a beautiful
dog. He is also a very loving, friendly dog that likes to sit at
your feet, but will cuddle if you have the time. He is house trained
and knows some commands. Topie is well behaved around food, but
sometimes disagreements with other dogs occurs with treats. He
loves his walks, but stops to smell the roses frequently - but
he can be coaxed along with goodies. He is like most Pekes, a little
stubborn and overprotective of his owner, but anxious to please.
Topie is generally healthy but has some of the usual little dog
problems - food allergies and poor vision. He needs eye drops daily
and is very cooperative with getting them. His vision is poor but
you would never know it. He can find his way around very easily
once he gets used to his surroundings. He eats a combination of
lamb and rice (wet and dry food) with a little vegetable oil to
prevent constipation.
Topie is in a home with 2 dogs and a cat. He was initially curious
about the cat, but has learned to take her in stride. He is quite
independent in his relationships with the dogs, but despite his
aloofness, he watches over them and obviously misses them when
they are not around. Pekingese are long-lived dogs, so he has quite
a few more years of loving to give to someone willing to give him
a chance.
Topie is being fostered in Richmond, VA and his asking adoption
fee is $125.
